Use a pre-authorization when you need to authorize a payment amount now and complete the transaction later.
Before You Begin
- Confirm Pre-Authorization is enabled for your terminal or account.
- Confirm the amount that should be authorized.
Run the Pre-Authorization
- Select Pre-Authorization.
- Enter the authorization amount.
- Present the card using the available payment method.
- Wait for the final authorization response.
- Retain the approved transaction or ticket identifier for completion later.
Contact Support If
- The Pre-Authorization option is unavailable.
- The transaction does not return a clear authorization result.
- The original authorization cannot be located later.
Important: A pre-authorization is not the same as a completed sale. The authorized transaction must be completed according to your merchant and processor requirements.
